We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, we’re always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.

The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

Hazy golden-amber, white head. Slightly fruity and caramelly, leaning just a little towards bubble gum (signs of age?), spicy herbs, light lacto / aceto. Moderate sweet malts and cereals, a little mealy, a little spicy, a little rooty, not at all hoppy. Feels like it's past its prime.

Pours a slightly hazy reddish/orange/pinkish colour and a light pinkish head with little retention. Aroma's: fruity, berries, sweet red fruit. Retronasal it's fruity, a little vegetal, light sourish, some sweet spices, earthy. Flavour is light moderate bitter. Medium bodied. Finishes with moderate earthy bitterness. Beetroot more for the colour than the flavour it seems, fortunately.

Dark brown with thin head. Aroma and flavour have some dark malts. Bittersweet with a little caramel. Balanced and sessionable.

THT January. Black with tan head. Sweet roasted chocolate malts, peaty. Quite nice roasty and nice. Moderate sweet and bitter. Like the dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation.

Bottle at THT January. Hazy very dark brown with beige head. Soft smoke, dry cocoa, coriander, fruity hops, light lime, ash. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied. Weird but quite OK.

Sweet roasted chocolatey malts, soft dank grassy hops, also some citrus and resin. Moderate sweet and bitter. About medium bodied. Must say it is noticeable light in the malt department, bit watery chocolatemilky but the hoppiness makes up for it.

Bottle at dB’s. Hail to the vegan cheeseburger for he/she is our lord and master. Black with light tan head. Sweet roasted chocolatey malts, soft dank grassy hops, also some citrus and resin. Moderate sweet and bitter. About medium bodied. Must say it is noticeable light in the malt department, bit watery chocolatemilky but the hoppiness makes up for it. Soft carbonation.

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', bottled in October 2019. Almost clear, very dark ruby with a medium large, slightly fluffy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish, fairly fruity-resiny and gently roasty-malty aroma of tropical fruits, blueberry, pine, chocolate and coffee. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, quite roasty, rather fruity-resiny taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, blueberry, tropical fruits and pine, followed by a short, gently roasty-bitter, quite earthy-dry, rather resiny finish. Thin to medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Really good Session BIPA, just lacking some body due to its low abv, of course.
