We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, we’re always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.

The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

0.375 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', bottled in February 2019. Almost clear, pale golden with a thin, slightly fluffy, slowly diminishing, white head. Slightly sweetish, sourish, gently fruity and slightly funky aroma of lemon, wood, barnyard, some gooseberry and a touch of hay. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, gently sour, rather fruity, vinous and a bit funky taste of lemon, gooseberry, oak and traces of hay, followed by a short, gently sour, fairly woody-dry, quite vinous finish. Thin to medium body, gently astringent and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Smells a bit weird but the taste is nicely fresh, fruity and vinous. Nice!

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', bottled in February 2019. Clear, golden with a thin, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, slightly sourish, gently fruity and a bit grassy aroma of lemon, pineapple, gooseberry and light hay. Minimally sweet, gently sour, quite fruity and a little grassy taste of lemon, rhubarb, gooseberry, pineapple and a touch of hay, followed by a short, slightly bitter, gently tart, dry finish. Thin to medium body, slightly astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Nice one!

Kaapse 5Y Anniversary, happy birthday! Light unclear pale golden with thin white ring head. Grapes, hay, funky and fresh, pear juice, brett. Moderate sweet and bitter and light sour. Medium body and soft carbonation. Crazy nice.

Bottle shared at THT August ‘19. Fairly hazy golden orange with a ring off white head. Aroma of light citrus, yeast and dusty notes. Flavour is light moderate sweet and light sour. Light medium bodied with light carbonation.

Sampled at THT August. Hazy dark golden with small head. Sour grains, apricots, light funk, soft red wine, light fruity hops. Almost medium sweet, light sour. Medium bodied. Good!

Lichtgeel bier met heel veel stevig schuim. Smaak is licht zuur en fruitig met iets van bessen en citrus. Ondanks ik niet van de zure bieren ben vind ik deze best te doen.

bottiglia 33 cl, bel cappello di schiuma bianca persistente, colore giallo smorto limpido, al naso è intensa subito ananas poi malto caramello agrumi passionfruit frutta tropicale, in bocca è calda pompelmo uva agrumi frutta tropicale, corpo rotondo, carbonazione forte, amaro accentuato ben bilanciato dal dolce. I 5% ABV sono perfetti. Ottima equilibrata ben fatta. c. COOP Tenero 11.08.19

Bottle shared from Bierkoning. Dark purple with a ring purple head. Aroma is floral with yeast, citrus, oak, malt and tart dark fruits. Flavour is moderate sweet and sour. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
