From the can. Sweet caramel and malt aromas. Soft with sweet caramel upfront turning slightly soapy before the earthy malt finish.

12 ounce can poured into wine glass. Purchased at Craft Beer Cellar Fenway in Boston. Seems like a fresh batch. No date. Dim straw color with a light haze and visible carbonation, not much had retention or lacing. Otherwise a very well-done summer Belgian beer. Light Belgian sweetness with a lightly thick Belgian malt cake. This is balanced by a lemon (not lemon pledge) and herbally yeastiness. Light but full feeling. Perfect way to make a Belgian without the faults common to US brewers.

Poured into a lager glass, the appearance was a mildly dark brown color almost black with an eggshell white foamy two fingers worth of head. Dissipated to leave some stringy sticky lace.
The aroma had some bacon, sweet ham, earthy hop spice, dried leaves, sweet wood, roasted malts, hints of dark chocolate, and sweet dark bread.
The flavor blended finely between the sweet meatiness, earthy hop spice and the sweet portions of the dark chocolate. Took a little bit but the smoke did show up after a good deal of warming. Aftertaste was sweet meatiness (bacon to ham). Finish was smooth, sweet, roasty warming and somewhat meaty.
The palate was pillowy smooth along my tongue giving off a body approximately medium in stature. Pretty good as a sipper and the carbonation felt fine.
Overall, pretty good smoked lager even though I had to let it warm up a bit. I wonder if I had it too cold to start.

Poured into an English pint glass, the appearance was a pale burnt orange/copper color with a fingers worth of white foamy head that slid off at a good pace. Mild stringy lace.
The aroma had some toast, biscuits, light toffee/caramel malts, dried citrusy tones, some herbal character and ended with a little bit of floral hop quality.
The flavor was moderately sweet drawing upon the malts to stiffen the bitterness and almost make me want to say bland but given the style, Ill refrain and say the aftertaste was as expected with a smooth malty contour that followed into the finish.
The palate was almost medium bodied, sitting just a touch under and creating a fantastic sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Pretty smooth along my tongue.
Overall, as an English pale ale brewed by an American brewer, its hard to knock, my numbers are based on that. And, theres no diacetyl, thats a plus!

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a thin yellow color with the expected transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a moderate pace. Rapidly dissipating fingers worth of white foamy head. Spotty sliding lace.
The aroma had some stiff grassy hops, slight pepper, dried leaves and a touch of biscuits.
The flavor had a mellow sweet to light spicy contour rolling along my tastebuds with a touch of that biscuity smoothness to even it all out in the aftertaste to follow through in the finish.
The palate was just above light bodied with a fantastic sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good, non-distracting. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, for me at least, I thought this was a very nicely done Czech pilsener that I would love to have again.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a semi-hazy burnt orange color with a fingers worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a decent pace. Light lace.
The aroma had some biscuits, malty sweet with a light citrus to floral hop backbone to it.
The flavor leaned into the sweetness of the prior mentioned aromas. Slight bready/biscuity to floral aftertaste and finish.
The palate was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt fine.
Overall, pretty good APA worthy of coming back to.

On cask at the Bow Bar. Appearance - pale yellow with a lacy head. Nose - floral and lemon. Taste - sweetish lemon and flowers. Palate - close to medium bodied with a tangy texture. The finish is sweet and dry at the same time. Overall - sweeter than the typical golden ale style but enjoyable.
