Description
Our journey began with the end of founder and owner Andy Smith's former career in fine dining. An avid home-brewer, Andy sought to make fresh exciting beer that was difficult to find here in the UK. A move from his home town of Leeds to London soon presented the opportunity to work with Andy Moffat at Redemption Brewing in Tottenham. Here he studied and learned to ply his trade as a professional brewer whilst making many friends and contacts in the fast growing UK beer scene. In 2012, one of these friends, Evin O'Riordain of The Kernel Brewery kindly offered to pass on their original brew kit as the Kernel embarked upon expansion. A short time later, some premises secured just down the railway line, and Kernel and Partizan were established as neighbors; so the brewery was born.
The brewery relocated late 2017 from Almond Road to its current location.
Today
Ten years later and much like other small breweries across the UK Partizan has faced tough trading conditions; namely the lasting effects of the pandemic, soaring inflation and increasing rent. To both protect Partizan and avoid chasing inflation and increasing prices, the brewery moved its production out of London in 2023 to a farm in Market Harborough in rural Leicestershire, locating it at long-time friends, Langton Brewery.
We are now expanding the brewery here, on the farm. By Spring 2024 we will have a new fermenter hall and a greater capacity than we ever had in London which will allow us to brew exciting new beers and to collaborate with old friends and new. Despite the draw of the countryside our roots are still in London and we will continue to meet the demands of our customers in the city that we still call home.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the brewery. Pours cloudy amber with a large, strong beige froth head. Hefty, lightly toasted brown bread nose, hints of dark wheat, yeast, perhaps some leathery berries. Medium sweet flavor with understated alcohol punch, bits of jammy berries, some drying yeast, doughy brown bread, mellow burnt leaves. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation. Lightly warming to finish, some faint tangy fruits, touches of leather, toasted brown bread, mellow bitterness, hints of bubblegum, some background earth. Great stuff. I had a bottle of this about a month ago down at the brewery, and the beer didn’t really taste ’ready’; it was a bit undercarbonated and, as such, seemed a little boozy and overly sweet. Now, though, the beer seems to have developed a bit more and has the kind of lively carbonation I want in a saison, which does well to space out the alcohol and rich flavors at play. Great beer.

Bottled (thanks teorn88). Hazy yellowish golden colour with a hige white head, which settles into a mediumsized creamy one and leaves good lace. Aroma is citrus, farmyard, yeast, some sour wood and a bit resiny notes. Flavour is citrus, yeast, earth, some sour wood, sweet malts and also a quite nice bitterness to it. Rich carbonation.

Bottled on 20/12/12 - Pours copper orange with a foamy white head. Aroma of exotic fruits, grassy hops and hints of musty citrusy notes. Taste is fruity and grassy with hints of lemon and caramely malts. Finish is grassy and bitter with hints of fruits and citrus. Quite easy going and generic, but tasty pale ale.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at THE Kris Wines. Pours mostly clear, bright gold with a thick, frothy white crown. Smells absolutely awesome, tons of clementine, juicy grapefruit, orange, lemon and papaya. Light to medium sweet flavor, more citrusy goodness but with a slight dry edge, some minerals, bitter hay. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Juicy, lightly resinous finish, some citrus rind bitterness, more clementine, mango, grapefruit. Very solid beer overall. Effortlessly drinkable.
