Strathaven Ales
Microbrewery in Strathaven, South Lanarkshire, Scotland 🏴

We consider our beers to be very traditional, our brewing, unlike modern facilities is a hands-on labour intensive process crafted by three generations of the same family.
Manufacturing in an old building brings its challenges and we have retained many of the original mill features and a large part of the original gearing. Although this often gets in the way we feel it is part of what ensures the beer has a character not achieved in modern production units.

Cask @ JCB Weather Spoons Shrewsbury Hotel. Pours clear deep burnished amber, off white head. Spiced caramel on the nose. Taste is smooth and surprisingly spicy (well, it is a winter beer i guess), lots of cinnamon, ginger hints, biscoff biscuits before returning to its caramel-forward base. Nice

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - golden amber with nice lacing. Nose - dried orange, raisin and general cake notes. Taste - more cakiness. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture. Dry crunchy finish. Overall - good example of a premium bitter.

Cask at Cloisters. Black body with ruby highlights and a tight beige head. Good lacing. Aroma of chocolate, raisins and weak coffee. Flavour of plum, brown bread, raspberry, cola bottle sweets and weak Ribena. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft and subtle - incredibly easy to drink. Would love to see this in bottle more frequently - it would be a regular in my fridge.
