opalescent pale yellow colour, moderate sized ecru-ish white head; aroma of peach or rather apricot jam, some mango, pineapple, tangerine, maybe minimal grapefruity and pomelo notes; taste is quite the same with surprisingly moderate hoppy bitterness; well, as a beer, it is quite good, BUT as a West Coast IPA...well, it is quite modest - and I am really diplomatic...

Bière dégustée en canette. Robe noire d'encre, totalement opaque, avec une petite mousse brun foncé qui tient bien. Visuellement, elle porte parfaitement son nom : on dirait du pétrole dans le verre ! Le nez s'ouvre sur une belle douceur maltée avant de laisser apparaître des notes de café et de réglisse salée. L'attaque est assez douce et gourmande, rapidement rejointe par une légère touche de réglisse salée. La finale développe des saveurs de chocolat noir et de café bien torréfié qui apporte une belle amertume. Malgré ses 12 %, l'ensemble reste remarquablement équilibré et très savoureux. Une excellente imperial stout.

A light yellow and hazy beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has grapefruit, nectarin, hint of pine. Taste has graperuit, some lime nad mango. Medium bodied. Nice beer, fresh.
