Description
8 Wired is a micro brewing company based in Warkworth, New Zealand.
Our mission is to produce mind blowing beers that will wow craft beer lovers, excite fellow beer geeks and educate the mis-guided who still believe that "beer is just beer". If you want to come on this journey with us, please get in touch.
8 Wired Brewing is inspired by the legendary Kiwi can-do mentality and fellow craft brewers who have dared to challenge the masses and show us all that beer is no longer “just beer”! Known for producing “New world interpretations of old world styles” 8 Wired have multiple shades of very hoppy IPAs, Saisons, Porters and Stouts in their permanent line up and have the biggest barrel aged and sour program in the southern hemisphere.
After 5 years of contract brewing, eventually at 4 different breweries across New Zealand we now finally have our very own brewery (In Warkworth, North of Auckland) where we brew and package everything.

Pours hazy dark amber with a small head.Nose shows super juicy hops with massive amounts of passionfruit leaping out along with a load of sweet malt contributing a faint toasty character.Very similar flavours but the passionfruit isn’t quite so full-on, nor is the malt quite so noticeable. Instead there’s a nice sharp bitterness. Very refreshing.Carbonation is a little high really.

Classy-looking and -feeling bottle, 11C. Black tinged with red at the edges, smallish tan head that never disappears. Aroma of roasted malt, hazelnut oil, chocolate, peat, a hint of prunes. Very smooth mouthfeel. Bigger smoke in the taste than the nose (until you go back and sniff again). Smoke, vanilla, gentle roast, stewed fruit. Some hop as well as roasted bitterness and vanilla at the end. Very good indeed.

[11/10] Bottle. Slightly hazy amber with a creamy light beige head. Aroma has some caramel and pears, then heaps of Kiwi hop aromas - cut grass, gooseberries (oh come on, I have some in the freezer), kaffir lime leaf, white grapes, cardamon pods, oranges, custard apples, galangal, black pepper. Taste is really all about the hops (and the aromas are all there in the apparent taste), but the malt has enough presence to work as is dark enough not to seem just lolly-sweet. Quite boozy. It’s almost hot with spices and a bit of pine at the finish. Complicated isn’t the same as complex and despite the many interesting flavours I didn’t like this much. Cacophonous. [3.3][2/14] Still not loving this one, for much the same reasons.
