The first of its kind to establish brewing and distilling roots under a single roof, Maplewood has been producing finely crafted beer and spirits out of their 10BBL brewhouse and 250L Kothe hybrid still since 2014. Three years after moving into the production facility, Maplewood opened the Lounge, a neighborhood bar doubling as a cocktail parlor and brewery taproom. Beginning commercial distribution throughout Illinois shortly after settling into the Logan Square space, Maplewood has since expanded their distribution footprint into Missouri, SW Michigan, Northern Indiana, Wisconsin and Kansas. Maplewood’s patrons have come to expect expertly crafted beer in a wide range of styles.

Pour is a brassy gold with a large white head. Aroma is a nice mango hop. Flavor is a slight tropical fruit with a pop of bitterness on the back end. Decent little pale ale in which the aroma was a little better than the flavor.

On tap at Little Lager. Pours a dark brown with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is toasted malt and raisin. Medium body, raisin, cocoa, toast, light roast, clean, very good.

Draught at Olympia Grill, 2/14/24. Moderately hazy, brass-golden. Small, persistent white head. Juicy, yeasty, biscuity. Light pine and such. Lightly juicy, kind of bland with yeast and such. Clean flavors but a bit piney, with heavy grapefruit. Big malty textures, dry, clean, but, idk, a bit underwhelming on bright IPA flavors.

16oz can. A pretty solid beer. Big vanilla. What seems to be a smooth, easy Brown Ale underneath. Vanilla is a little too much after awhile. Well made, easy drinking.

Can @ Jewel Osco, Chicago. Pours extremely hazy like orange juice with a large foamy off-white head, citrus-mango aroma, adequate carbonation, medium bitter unripe mango-citrus taste, mint flavor, thin body, long unripe mango finish. Flavorful NEIPA.

Very deep tan head. Big bourbon nose laced with Oreo cookie, and yummy. Taste is just so big and thick. Chocolate brownie, though without the extra sugar. Instead, sweetness from the bottom barrels and vanilla. Almost an edge of maple syrup as well. Now some chocolate cake impression. And always, always, that edge of whiskey!

473ml can. Opalescent, dark yellow-ish, golden colour with average, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, moderately lacing, white head. Grassy, piney and citrusy fruity, hoppy aroma, slightly biscuity, pale malty background, notes of lemon, some pineapple, salty cracker, a touch of orange. Taste is crisp, bitter, piney, grassy and citrusy fruity hoppy, slightly spicy and minimally biscuity, pale malty backbone, notes of lemon, salty cracker, some grapefruit, pineapple, orange peel. Oily texture, dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Clean and crisp - good!
