Bottle from Beers of Europe. Poured black with a small beige head. Aroma was roasted malts, chocolate, dark fruits, coffee, slight ashy notes. Moderate sweetness, medium roasted bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, average to soft carbonation.

[ As Tipple's Crackle ].Clear dark red brown colour with a average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, dusty, spicy. Cask at the Kings Head, Norwich, 20/11/16. Golden with a well appointed off white cap. Nose is biscuit, straw, pale malts, lemon drizzle, grains. Taste comprises light caramel, citric peel, straw, grass, toasted grains, light malt bill. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light dryness in the close. Ok for style.

Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-Christmas Tasting. It pours deep brown with a thick tan head. The nose is toasty, warming, fruit cake, vanilla, marzipan, candy, cinnamon and nutmeg. The taste is bitter, toasty, umami, dark fruits, cinnamon, nutmeg, fruit cake, light alcohol warmth and candied stuff. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty solid overall.
