Description
Independent Brewery born in Brighton.

The parent company took over the old Gloucester nightclub building and opened it as The North Laine Brewhouse in October 2012. Following success with the on-site kit, the owners expanded the concept, adopting and spinning off the Laine Brew Co name.

Laine Brew Co opened its large-scale brewing operations at Adversane in late 2016. The core beer range and flagship lines were transferred from North Laine to Adversane. North Laine Brewhouse kept operational for small-batch experimental beers, seasonal releases, brewery fresh and collaboration brews, mostly issued under North Laine Brews branding, until effectively ceasing in 2020. Formally closed September 2025 when the internal brewing division was shut down, although the venue remains open.

Note - This entry is for beers brewed in Brighton and discontinued prior to the establishment of Laine Brew Co in Adversane, and experimental etc beers brewed in Brighton after.

Cask at North Laine, Brighton. It pours clear gold with a pinkish hue and decent white head. The nose is hay, straw, grassy, earthy, red fruits and raspberry jam. The taste is crisp, juicy, fruity tartness, raspberry, fruit compote, grassy bitterness, straw and hay with a dry finish. Light - medium body and fine carbonation. I prefer this over the blueberry version.

Cask at North Laine. It pours clear reddish-amber with a small white head. The nose is earthy, grass, gay, straw and jammy fruit. The smooth, bitter, fruity, doughy, straw, grass, ripe blueberry and some jam with a dry finish. Light - medium body and fine carbonation. I was hoping for a bit more fruit, but still not bad. Easy going.

Cask at the Aeronaut - Acton. Pours clear, red-brown with a frothy, tan head. The nose holds some sugary fruits, hints of roast and burnt bread. Light sweet flavor with notes of burnt sugars, berries, darkened bread, minerals. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation; OK condition. Moderately sweet to finish with light earthy bitterness, some mild citrus rind, bittersweet cocoa. Actually, OK.
