Description
Muifelbrouwerij is located in The Netherlands in Oss, Noord-Brabant. Our mission is to develop, produce and sell tasty and unique craft beers. We started in 2007 and we are extremely proud on our brewery and our craft beers. In our head-quarters at the Vikingenweg in Oss we have a tasting room, our warehouse and since January 2019 our own brewhouse, fermentation tanks and filling line.

The name Muifelbrouwerij might need some explanation. Muifel is a non-existing word and is derived from Megen and duivel. Megen is a small city in The Netherlands where the brewery started on small scale (20 liter brews) for private consumption. Duivel is Dutch for Devil. Muifel was the name of one of the beers from the early days, inspired by the famous Belgian Duvel beer.

0.33 l bottle from 'Slijterij GΓ©rard' as a free gift (many thanks!), best before March 2022. Hazy, golden amber with a thin, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, slightly yeasty-spicy and a little fruity-floral aroma of vanilla, clove and some honey. Gently sweet, moderately bitter, slightly yeasty-spicy and a bit fruity-floral taste of vanilla, honey Belgian candy, some clove and a touch of straw, followed by a short, gently bitter, slightly yeasty-spicy and a bit grassy finish with a touch of cardboard. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Pretty simple, somewhat musty, not that nice overall.

After the regular Dr. Hop, which is hopped with Columbus and Brewer's Gold and dry-hopped with Cascade, this lighter IPA is apparently intended as the starting point of a series of IPAs each time highlighting a different hop variety, in this case Mosaic. Thick and pillowy, egg-white, foamy, dense head sitting firmly on a hazy, warm orange blonde beer with peachy hue. Aroma of lime blossoms and orange orchard, lychee, blood orange juice, grapefruit zest, soggy biscuit, rusk, wormwood, wet paprika powder, sundried tomato, Cape gooseberry, vermouth, cold dough, whiffs of cayenne pepper, hard water, lavender and ginger. Sweetish onset but very restrainedly so, light fruity notes of peach, lychee, tamarillo and blood orange - clearly a hop-derived fruitiness rather than a yeast-derived one - with lively carbonation and softish, bit fluffy mouthfeel. Biscuity and very lightly toasted peanut-like malts with a slight soapy edge, highly aromatized by fruity, yet not really tropical hoppiness, rather hinting at peach, lychee and of course a whole lot of vivid citrus fruit (pink grapefruit, blood orange); this hoppiness provides not only a lovely retronasal wave of red and pink fruit, but also a long-stretching, spicy bitterness, that does not become too harsh anywhere either, keeping an opening for juicy and sweetish maltiness to pass through. I was expecting a NEIPA type beer, but this is more a 'generic' international IPA, the kind of 'basic' IPAs that take the best of both worlds and combine lusciously fruity New England aromas and haziness with West Coast boldness and lasting bitterness; this base functions as a perfect vehicle to showcase the versatility and elegance of Mosaic here, with both lovely aromatics and quenching bitterness. Very pleasant IPA in all respects.

In de tuin uit een flesje. Licht troebel, geelgoud. Stevig schuim. Typische weizen, lekker. Banaan in geur en smaak, de koriander haal ik er niet uit.
