Description
Quirky Ales is a small microbrewery based in Garforth near Leeds. Previously famous for the being the birthplace of Chris Silverwood and some bloke from the Kaiser Chiefs, Garforth is sure to become better known as the birthplace of Quirky Ales. We produce high-quality cask-conditioned real ales, and a variety of bottle-conditioned beers. We don’t want to give away all our secrets, but we can tell you that our founder, Mike Quirk (does it make sense now?) and our brewers Aaron Getliffe and Simon Mustill use the finest local ingredients, sourced from maltsters in nearby Castleford, and design bold, contemporary recipes. Aaron and Simon produce the ‘Quirky’ nature of the beers by combining the local malt with a wide variety of English and American hops.

Cask at Quirky Brewery Tap in Garforth - clear yellow body, white top. Citrus and pine at the front, good sharpness from the hops. Good effort.

Third, gravicask, at the 22nd Oxford Beer & Cider Festival. Shared with Finn. Hazed golden body, filmy layer, poor lacing. Mixed smell of harbal hops, grain and grass. Hints of mid-sweet canned fruity flavours. A mild bitter twist to the finish. Just alright. (25.10.2019).

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Darker amber with a creamy-frothy head. Has a bittered maltiness with a slight floral-sweetness to proceedings.
