Description
Gebrouwen door Vrouwen (Brewed by Women) originated as a hobby of two sisters from Amsterdam. They started brewing beer in 2013, at home in a 35 liter pan. They mastered the brewing process through trial and error. Now they know exactly how to make a fresh, sweet and tasty beer. At home they continue to experiment to keep creating new beers. The best beers are brewed in large quantities for everyone to enjoy!

330 ml. bottle sampled. Purchased @ AH. BBF 10FEB18. Hazy orange, creamy white head. Very bland nose, orange peel, sweet banana soap, very weak, overly sweet Hefeweizen. Taste is hugely bland, sugar, soap, DE yeast, largely very plain dull soap, sugar,... Body is the same. Brewery name is still the same. Added spices sound boring, dull standard BE spices actually largely orange peel, coriander seeds, juniper berry,... They are virtually absent from the taste, maybe a vague illusion of juniper berry in the finish but that is largely just the illusion. Very weak Hefeweizen beer at best, sub par as was the case for the previous 2 beers tried from this brewery.

Slightly fruity and floral-herbal aroma, notes of elderflower, a touch of fresh hay and chamomile, a touch of honey and physalis. Taste is floral-herbal and slightly fruity, notes of elderflower, hints of chamomile, a touch of fresh hay, fruity hints of physalis. Well balanced, very refreshing - very nice!

Draught @ Spargo, Amsterdam. Hazy orange/amber color. Dense white head with pretty good retention and lacing. Aroma’s: floral, light malty sweetness, herbal hops. Retronasal there’s hops, fruit, flowers, light honey. Flavor is light bitter, light sweet, flowery. Medium bodied. Finishes a bit caramel malty, light bitter. Pleasant. Edit: from the bottle there is a strong aroma of elderflower, somewhat artificial.

Many thanks to RW80 for this bottle! The beer starts fruity and floral. The elderflowers are there, fresh harmonising with the grainy and slightly sweetish body. Moderate to long aftertaste, floral sweetish with blossoms there, not much bitterness and smooth grain. Nice!

On tap at Cafe de Bonte Koe Leiden. Cloudy pale gold lasting white head. Spicy wheat beer. Lemon. Wheat. Some softness some good drinkability. Simple pleasant. Good on a hot muggy night. I love Leiden. Then again i loved Den Haag last year. Bar with great character. A little gin flavour maybe. Some sweetness.

Dutch tripel "brewed by women", but apparently not the same women as the Tasty Lady crew. Made at the old Lindeboom brewery. Bottle shared at GBF by Craftmember, cheers! Lightly lacing, off-white, moussy head, misty yellow straw blonde robe. Aroma has a lot of isoamylacetate (banana-flavored bubblegum), ripe yellow plum, canned apricot, hint grass, sourdough, sweetish cooked turnip, white bread and - alas - a whiff of DMS (cooked cauliflower), something I am very sensitive to. Fruity onset, banana again, some gooseberry, hint pineapple, spritzy carbo, lightly bready middle - too lightly actually, a bit thin and grainy in all, lingering residual white candi sugar sweetness and banana isoamylacetate, phenolic accent in the end, grassy hop bitterishness unable to cope with the basic sweetness and a dash of warming, gin-like alcohol in the very end. Technically more or less okay (apart from the DMS) but conceptually another pointless sweet tripel - though I certainly appreciate the fact that women seem to be increasingly engaging in beer and brewing nowadays, at least in the Netherlands (and other countries where the craft beer revolution is not so much slowed down by clinging to old traditions).
