About
Mighty Oak Brewing Company was founded by John Boyce in Brentwood in Essex in 1995 with brewing commencing in 1996. It moved to the town of Maldon in January 2001, and set up in the West Station Yard industrial area, once a major local industrial area with its own railway branch line to Witham.
The brewery makes mostly ale and exports these throughout Essex, London, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Kent. Many of the brewery's products are available to buy privately in different size plastic bladders up to keg size.

4th January 2020 Mighty Oak taproom, Maldon. KeyKeg. Light haze on this gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, slightly soft but still with decent fine minerally carbonation. Soft malts provide a light creamy sweetness. Hops bring orange, tangerine and a touch of mandarin. A little peel in there. More floral toned and fairly bright and juicy citrus on the smooth finish along with a mild bitterness. Bright and breezy.

Mighty Oak taproom, Maldon. Cask. Clear amber beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Light palate, mildly dry, mild carbonation. Modest floral spice. Juicy dark ripe orange. Bitterish dark toffee streaked malts. Light spicy finish. A robust winter ale, quite drinkable.

7/8/2020. Draught at the Moulsham Tap, Chelmsford. Poured hazy pale golden with a large white head. Aroma of malt, blood orange, tropical fruits, caramel, nut, touch of honey and herb. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Medium body, soft carbonation.

7/8/2020. Cask at the Hop Beer Shop, Chelmsford. Pours beautiful bright ruby red with a small lasting off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, fruit, sweet syrup. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium body, slight creamy texture, soft carbonation. Bittersweet red berry finish. Enjoyable but half was enough.

Thin tan head left a frothy cover on a rich mahogany coloured still body. Liquorice, toffee & malt aroma. Medium bodied, smooth over the palate thinning out to leave a clean back. Malt, liquorice, toffee, biscuit & berry tastes with a sweet fruity finish leaving a tangy taste in mouth. Excellent Mild!

Moderate body, slight oily and watery texture, soft carbonation. Bit of extra bitterness to finish. Easy drinking, nicely done.

7/12/2019. Cask at the Ale House, Colchester. Pours very dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, liquorice, coffee, dark chocolate, dark fruit and slight ashy notes. Moderate sweetness and medium roasted bitterness. Medium body, slight creamy texture, soft carbonation. Does well for it's modest abv and has a likeness to a traditional English old ale. Quite enjoyed this.
