Description
Mighty Oak Brewing Company was founded by John Boyce in Brentwood in Essex in 1995 with brewing commencing in 1996. It moved to the town of Maldon in January 2001, and set up in the West Station Yard industrial area, once a major local industrial area with its own railway branch line to Witham.

The brewery makes mostly ale and exports these throughout Essex, London, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Kent. Many of the brewery's products are available to buy privately in different size plastic bladders up to keg size.

Cask handpull at Charles Dickens London. Tasty hoppy best bitter. Some caramel on the aroma and in mouth then some proper bitterness on the finish.

Draft at Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2013 - London. Pours clear amber-brown with a creamy head. Tasty, with bready malts and mild bitterness. Plenty of brown bread character, faint earth, hints of cocoa. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Nicely balanced finish with slight earthy bitterness and more toasted brown bread. Tasty.

Draft at Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2013 - London. Pours clear yellow with a mild, creamy white head. Lightly buttery on the nose with hints of tangy lemon. Light sweet flavor with doughy, pale bread. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Decent balance to finish with further doughy bread and lemon meringue. OK.

Gravity dispense at Pigs Ear, 03/12/13. Clear golden blonde with a moderate white covering. Nose is citric fruits, lemon sherbet, earthy hop notes, pissy tang. Taste comprises orange pith, citric tang, lemon sherbet. Light to medium body, fine carbonation, dry grassy bitterness in the finish. Decent flavoursome affair for the ABV.

Gravity dispense at Pigs Ear, 03/12/13. Hazed mahogony brown with thin off white edgeing. Nose is fruit cake mix, light spice, cocoa powder, brown sugars. Taste comprises light cardboard, toffee, earthy, fruit cake. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finale with light roast notes. Ok porter.

Cask at the Watford Beer Festival 2013. Poured a clear copper colour with a rocky white head. Malty aroma with notes of floral hops and hay. Flavours of gooseberry, raisins and grain. Grassy hops on the finish, balanced with chewy malt and caramel. Decent bitter.
