Description
Mighty Oak Brewing Company was founded by John Boyce in Brentwood in Essex in 1995 with brewing commencing in 1996. It moved to the town of Maldon in January 2001, and set up in the West Station Yard industrial area, once a major local industrial area with its own railway branch line to Witham.

The brewery makes mostly ale and exports these throughout Essex, London, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Kent. Many of the brewery's products are available to buy privately in different size plastic bladders up to keg size.

Pigs Ear. Clear deep amber beer with a small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Light fine carbonation. Unsweet dark toffee. Very light spice. Little dried fruits. Comes together well. Light dry finish. Solid if pale porter!

Pigs Ear, Round Church, Hackney. Clear gold beer with a small white head. Smooth palate, light fine carbonation. Sweetish grainy malt. Good zesty citrus, grapefruit, orange and lemon. Light finish. Decent.

Sun Inn autumn beer festival, Kelvedon. Cask. Almost clear gold beer, small white bubbly head. Smooth palate with fine carbonation. Nice juicy marmalade hops with a little floralness. Lesser tropical fruits and a touch of kiwi and gooseberry. Light dry finish. Tasty if a tad dry.

Cask @ Harp, Charing Cross WC2. Pours a slightly hazy pale amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma with hoppy hints. Fruity malty caramel hoppy slightly bitter flavor. Has a fruity malty caramel hoppy finish.

Cask @ Wenlock Arms, Hoxton N1. Pours a pale amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy aroma with weak hints of citrus. Fruity malty hoppy citrus flavor with hints of caramel. Has a fruity malty hoppy floral finish.

Cask gravity at Firkin Ale House Folkestone. Mid brown colour no real head. Tasty malty brown beer with some decent sting on finish. Tasty.

Cask at GBBF 2013, Olympia, London. A ruby/brown coloured pour with a small off white head on top. Malty, caramel aroma. Tastes is similar, malty, caramel, slightly sweet. Very drinkable mild.

Cask at the Harp. It pours clear amber with a medium white head. The nose is cereal, floral, butter, creaminess, light toast and white sugar. The taste is straw, wood, floral, grainy, caramel, some astringency and varnish with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A very so-so golden ale.
