Draught at the brewery, on January 25, 2012Clear very pale champagne color, white head. Malty, cream taste. Malty aftertaste. Moussy mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Malty, vegetable scent. Not bad, though boring. Good for something light in the heat.

First stop on my recent cruise was Georgetown Grand Cayman where I had the opportunity to sample a few bottles of Caybrew while waiting for the line to the tender to go down. Served in a green bottle at Margaritaville by a waitress who seemed put out when I asked for a glass. Pours a fizzy yellow bordering on gold with a good sized fluffy white head that dissipates quickly. Smells of light grains a hint of corn and a slight floral hop note if I think about it real hard. Taste is light and refreshing and hits the spot on this 90+ degree day. Light sweet malt with a hint of floral hops and a hint of skunk. Reminds me a lot of Heineken or what I remember of Heineken. Light body, crisp carbonation, watery mouthfeel. Light and refreshing on a warm day but little in the way of flavor for my wrecked palette.

Draught: Poured a rich dark brown with a light reddish tint to the edges, the head is off white. Aroma was very sweet malt. The taste was gritty with roasted malt, finish was a lot harsher then I had expect.

Pours clear watery gold with full yet loose white head. The aroma puts out mostly floral hops as well as some spice hops, grains and sugary sweetness. Half way through drinking the beer the aroma was just about gone. Don’t know where it went. The taste bites first with floral hops and sweet yet watery sugary malts then moves into a bit of grains by midway. The spicy hops pick up and join the floral hops into the finish. It seems to try to become overly sweet with additional consumption but somehow remains in check. I can see drinking this on a hot day in the islands.

On tap at Hammerheads in Cayman Islands. Pours a pale golden with a medium frothy white head leaving behind good sticky lacing. The aroma is a sweet grain malt. Thin mouthfeel with a corn malt taste and nice crisp finish. A decent lager from Caybrew.
