Bottle. Brownish black with a thin head. Aroma is toasted malt. Flavor is light chocolate caramel, toasted, some earthy sugar on a fruity malt finish. Texture is a little thin.

Not sure why this is labeled an Irish Ale, which usually means a reddish, bready malt beer, because this is really more of a Brown Ale in my eyes. Copper to brown color, aroma is of sweet to bready malts, large off white head that dissipated quickly. Carbonation level meets the expectation. Taste is of a well crafted brown, malts are forward with this beer, slight dark fruit notes. Hops are evident at the end, some pine, not getting citrus however. Finish is wonderful, very easy to drink.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s 30th Birthday Bash - CBC Clerkenwell, London. Thanks to Colin. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Tosty dark malt nose, some dirt in there. Light to medium sweet flavor with dirt, burnt meat, dark toast and milk chocolate. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately dry finish with earth and cocoa. OK.

Bottle, thanks to Colin. It pours deep brown with a small light tan head. The nose is roasty, cooking chocolate, caramel, toffee and earth. The taste is roasted malt, light toast, soft caramel, faint saltiness and burnt malt with a dry finish. Smooth and easy drinking, but pretty so-so really.

Bottle. Clear orange caramel with a medium head. Aroma is bread and hop. Flavour is musky smoke, dough and flowers. Finish is dry musty with an interesting smokiness.

Bruce’s Birthday Bash at the Craft Clerkenwell. Thanks to Colin and his dad! Clear dark red- brown beer, residual pale tan head. Light dry palate. Trace of paint, a little apple. Light dark malt. Bitterish dark malt. Dry finish. Messy!

Bottle at Bruce’s 30th celebrations, 08/02/13, thanks to my Dad for sourcing it from Abbots bottle store in Cork. Very dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head. Nose is dark fruits, dark malts, light chocolate, molasses. Taste follows - dark fruits at the fore, raisens, chocolate. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finish. Decent enough porter.

Bottled at Black Sheep, Dublin. Near opaque black, small creamy head. Aroma of red berries and earth. Mid sweet with soft mouthfeel and mediu mbody. Rich and full flavoured. Fruity with some strawberry esters and earthy licorice, notes of yeast. Mid bitter finish. Rustic and complex with some flaws but a great array of flavours.
