Bottle from Pear Delicatessen & Shoppe, Seattle
Bottle 54 of 1247, date 7/20/14

Black color with small compact beige head. Aroma of dark malts, bread, biscuits, chocolate, oak (7.5). Lean body, the flavor is rich, a lot of dark chocolate, some tobacco: light sweetness.
Complex, very good.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Nose is quite complex, with notes of bourbon / whiskey barrels, some vanilla, chocolate and maybe a touch of coffee. Flavour is very complex and elegant, with notes of bourbon, spicy rye notes, a little chocolate, some vanilla, molasses and some coffee. Tons of cohesive flavours here -- very harmonious. Everything is executed wonderfully here. A surprisingly fantastic BA imperial stout.

12 oz bottle from Albertson’s CDA. Aroma consists of the fruit included (overripe) and grain. Pours ruby red with a medium pink head that falls after a minute. Taste is a little more bitter than I was expecting; it’s only a little tart; has a nice savoriness. A good belch reveals some nice hop flavor. Medium body, highly carbonated. I was expecting so much more from this.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Cloudy amber color with compact head. Strong Amber Ale, with caramel backbone and solid hopping; it’s moderately sweet, it has bold bitterness, some hop resins, and a pleasant final alcohol warmth. The aroma is too mild, the malt is not really expressive, the hops are aggressive but not elegant.
Bold brew. I would drink it with food, but as standalone it may get boring.

12 oz bottle from a four pack bought at Albertson’s in CDA, ID. Aroma is roasty coffee, chocolate, bread, green peppers (?). Pours black with red highlights; has a beige fluffy head with excellent retention and lace. Taste is sweet and roasty with strong coffee and chocolate flavors. Creamy texture, medium body. Really tasty.

12 oz bottle poured. Pours a dark red with a slightly sour cranberry aroma. Much lighter flavor then I expected. Very mild fruit flavor, a little more cranberry then cherry. Not getting much cherry at all. Sweet and tart finish. I liked this. Good stuff.
