Description
Congleton raised Nick Calvert set up Front Row Brewing as an artisan bespoke brewery in 2012. Alongside his striving business in textile printing he wanted to use his passion in real ale to open his own brewery. As a ex prop in rugby player for Congleton and Sandbach rugby clubs it was only fitting that the theme of the brewery to follow suit.

Cask at the Peterborough Beer and Cider Festival 2024 with Grumbo and ITFCDan. Aroma is stone fruit, grainy, malty, straw and citrus. Became more mucky in the the glass. Did not taste much better. Disappointing.

[Cask at the Alehouse, Reading.] A copper coloured pour with a loose cream head; malty aroma; quite oily in the mouth with a rich malty taste and a little caramel; then a dry finish with some gentle English hops and lasting barley and caramel. A rather good ESB.

[Cask (gravity pour) at the Basingstoke Beer Festival 2024] Amber pour; and a citrusy aroma; grainy body with perhaps a slight peachy taste (I was expecting more from the Nectaron hops).

Handpull cask at the Queens Road Tap, Leicester. Dark brown, very slightly translucent with a small uneven khaki head and lots of lacing. Light chocolate notes on the nose. Taste is beautiful, sweet with chocolate and light smoke, turning a bit bitter mid-sip. Smooth all the way down, light but velvety mouthful with a nutty bitter aftertaste. Soft carbonation. Solid.
