Unpasteurised and unfiltered 500ml bottle bought at The Baltic Fleet in Liverpool and shared with Magne and CinnamonGirl. Hazy, golden amber. White head that fades away fairly quickly. Fresh aroma of fruits. Pineapples and grapefruit shells in flavour supplied by spicy hints. Bitter endnotes. A bit thin on the swallow, but overall pleasant and likeable (04.05.2009).

Cask, half pint served well kept and temperate at the brewpub, Baltic Fleet, in Liverpool. Jet black with a brownish tint. Creamy, off-white head. Prominent smell of smoked, sweet grain. Exhibits an interesting flavour of dark chocolate malts, liquorice, oats and berries on a smoked backbone that lingers well on the tongue. Well made and a pleasure to drink. Good stuff (04.05.2009).

Pale golden body with a few floaters on the surface. Great glass-lacing. Rather undefineable in profile. Some aroma of acid grass and a kind of grass-hoppy taste. It is the taste of stinging nettles, I guess. Quite well bodied, but anonymous. Cask, half pint at The Baltic Fleet (Liverpool, 04.05.2009).

4.5% abv. Foggy, pale yellow. Thin ring of white bubbles on the surface. Spiced fruity aroma. Wheat, apples and sweet banana in flavour added by a bitter impact to the finish. A rather successful interpretation of the style. Half pint, cask at the brewpub (Baltic Fleet, Liverpool, 04.05.2009).

Cask, Baltic Fleet, Liverpool. This is essentially the same beer as the Summer Ale but with a load of nettles thrown into the mix. Clearish golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma was grassy hop with a hint of wet dog. A bit on the thin side. Nettles evident in the flavour, but not a huge amount going on that really tantalised the taste buds.

Cask, Baltic Fleet, Liverpool. This is a really good interpretation of the style, and I enjoyed this as much (if not more) than many โoriginalโ german efforts Iโve drunk. Loads of juicy citrus in the flavour with a hint of spice. Tasty.

Cask, Baltic Fleet, Liverpool. Very murky dark brown with a medium tan head. Sweet fruit nโ malt aroma with a hint of smoke. Slid down incredibly smoothly. Smokiness was very nicely understated. Appealing berry fruit hints in the flavour which was very tasty on the whole and exceedingly moreish. Great effort.
