Cask at Manchester winter ale fetival 2009... Deep black ... deap roast malt and rich spicey nose ... huge spice and lots of roast ... some chocolate ... very well balanced for such a heavily spiced beer... little coconut.

On handpull at The Baltic Fleet, Liverpool, 28-11-08. Pours mid gold with a white head. A great tangy crisp beer bit appley at times, bitterness follows, very fresh tasting decent pint that the brewer himself recommended to us. A7 A4 F7 P3 OV14

On handpull at The Baltic Fleet, Liverpool, 28-11-08. Pours dark, dark brown with creamy head. This is a nice easy drinking stout, sweet but also quite dry. A tasty stout really quite enjoyable. A6 A4 F6 P3 OV 14 3.3

On handpull at The Baltic Fleet, Liverpool, 27-11-08. Pours golden with a white creamy head. There is a burtonised nose to this, nice sweet fruitiness, soft in mouth a good session ale. This was a hard beer to review the place was absolutely jam packed with all of us gig-goers going to see the Bunnymen perform Ocean Rain at the appropriately named Echo arena. A6 A4 F 7 P3 OV 13

Cask, Fly in the loaf, Liverpool. Deep dark brown colour with a lingering medium tan head. Roasted malt, licorice and coffee notes in the aroma and flavour. Slipped down nice n’smooth. Slight sourness in there. Dryish finish. Not bad.

Cask, Wirral Food & Drink Festival. Darkish, hazy golden colour with next to no head. Some vague citrus and hop lurking here, but something not quite right in the flavour, like an unpleasant almost stale sourness which spoilt this rather for me. Finishes dry and ok but on the whole not great at all.

Cask, Baltic Fleet, Liverpool. Good to see a lick of paint on the exterior here. They were certainly doing a roaring trade in this on the sunny day I was there. Darkish golden colour with a slight haze and a white head. Aroma was malty with a hint of hop and a dash of something strange.... farty, soiled damp carpet? The flavour was ok, quite complex, but the citrus was not quite promiment enough for me , and the balance somehow seemed a little off kilter. Not without character though and largely enjoyable..

Bottle @ home. [ Courtesy chris_o ].Light unclear golden yellow color with a small, virtually none appearance, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate hoppy, lemon, medicine, light drain aroma. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (130508)

Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Festival 09-05-08 Fresh crisp lemon coloured bitter, nice tingly hoppy bitterness. This is a little bit one dimensional but it doesnโt suffer for this and I could imagine one of these going down well in the garden lightly chilled with the BBQ.

Cask handpull at The Fly in the Loaf, Liverpool. Pale gold, lasting ivory head. Nice bitter, the fruits are unusual, bit of kiwi maybe. Really tasty. Thatโs pretty good. The guys from Ulster next to me liked it as well. Nice slightly citrusy beer with a touch of marzipan.
