Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours copper/amber with a beige head. Aroma is lightly spicy, maybe a bit fruity. Med body. Flavor is pretty spicy with some roasty malt. Enough bitter to make it better than many ambers. Not getting any chocolate notes (good thing, that). Guess the 42 IBU is making this palatable.

Sample at the North Market Ohio Craft Brew Festival on 09/23/2016. Slightly hazy orange-gold color with a medium frothy off-white head that diminishes gradually to a film. Sticky top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Aroma of hops, yeast and fruit. Medium body with flavors of fruity yeast, floral hops and malt. The finish is fruity with a yeast and hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle. Pours clear pale yellow, small fizzy white head, dissipates quickly to nothing. Aroma of apples, barnyard, must. Flavor is light sweet, minimal bitterness, red apples, a bit of bubble gum. Light body, low carb. Better than expected.

On tap. Pours a deep reddish brown with very little head. Aromas of candi sugar, metallic Belgian yeast, and sweet malts. Flavours follow same with additional notes of raisins and Xmas spices- pretty subtle - but nicely balanced.

.4l draft at the Gordon Biersch in Leawood, Kansas. The pour is a slight haze golden orange with a well formed one inch white head. The head is lasting with splotchy lace. The aroma is soft spice rye, floral hop and fresh grain. The taste is a nice blend of understated rye spice and the floral hops and earth mineral of the malt towards the back. The palate is light to medium bodied with soft carbonation and the mineral resin finish. Nice one.

The aroma is faint floral along with a bit of cereal malt. The taste is fresh floral, herbal and a touch of pine hop along with the grain cereal and softly sweet malt finish. The palate is light bodied with soft to low carbonation and a mineral floral hop dry finish. Solid.
