Tap at the Birmingham Beer Bash, 2015. Poured a murky dark brown with a long lasting frothy off white head. The aroma is yeast, nutty malt. The flavour is moderate bitter with a yeasty, light metallic grassy hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Mother Kelly’s. Keg. Opaque black - brown beer, residual tan head. Palate is light and semi dry, mild carbonation. Sweetish dark malts, mild lactose and licorice flavours. Dry dark chocolate followed by richer Belgian chocolate. Dry finish, slightly woody. Interesting and drinkable.

Tap. Shakespeares, Sheffield. Cloudy, orangey gold. Thin, sticky, lasting, white head. Smells like a Heffe, with a load of tinned fruit syrup thrown in. Taste is initially sweet. Some tinny dryness. Soft, smooth palate. Finishes with more of the tinny thing. Doesn’t work for me.

On tap at Fyne Fest’, Achadunan, Cairndow, Argyll and Bute, Scotland, Saturday 13th June 2015 Dark brown on the pour with a beige head. Some milk chocolate, coffee and hops intermingle here with a little tart hedgerow berries in the mix, Its malty and roasty with a little dryness at the end, pretty decent I reckon. Keg at Mother Kelly’s - London. Pours oily black with a minimalist tan cream head. Lots of gooey dark chocolate in the aroma, some cherries, burnt earth, toffee. Medium to heavy sweet flavor, with lots of luscious dark fruits, stuff like cherry and raspberry, hints of bittersweet chocolate, scorched earth. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish with loads of oily chocolate, some lightly bitter berry skins, fleshy cherry, seedy raspberry, nips of espresso, burnt toast, baking cocoa. Excellent beer overall.
