Aroma is moderate malty, wheat, caramel notes, banana, rubber. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (010808)

bottle(select ale), clear golden orange, large thick offwhite head. fl : bourbon or whiskey, cellared beer, caramel. flavor is quite sweet, honey, caramel, dark fruits.

16.9oz bottle-pours a rich tan head that laces and slightly hazed copper color. Aroma is sweet medium malt-caramel, bread, medium fruit-plum. Taste is earthy medium malt-caramel, bread, medium fruit-plum, some herbal. Some off notes. Mild carbonation.

From the comments in the store I thought this would be great, but it was actually disappointing. Amber, small beige head. Very sweet and musty malt nose. Starts sweet, unpleasant astringent mid, mild lasting hop bitterness in finish which somehow isn’t quite right.

Bottled (as Duchy Originals Organic Select Ale). Amber colour, mediumsized small beige head. Aroma is fruits, wood and some hints of dry hay. Flavour is caramel malts, sweet fruits and also mild notes of alcohol.

Bottled (Waitrose Dunkel Weissbier). Amber colour, not that much head. Aroma is wheat, mild bananas and some mild spices and yeast. Flavour is wheat, dark fruits, banana and that’s about it.

A hazy dark amber ale with a thin off white head. Light herbal hops and malt in aroma, faint. In mouth, good crisp ale with good resinous hops, light caramel, and light mineral notes, herbaceous qualities. Nice ale. Bought at LCBO. BB 5/12/08.

Bottle as Waitrose Bavarian Dunkel Weissbier; 500 ml bottle; BBE Feb 2009. Hazy brown color with a vigorous off-white head. Starts with clove and bana, followed by a little wheat. Medium body with coarsely creamy carbonation. Finishes dry with light clove. Pretty refreshing.
