Bottle from Sainsburys. Pale copper coloured with a decent off-white head. Earthy malt aroma with a whiff of grassy hops. Flavour was malty, with a touch of orange peel and a decent bitter finish. Ok.

Duchy is an ok beer, at least for an organic. It is not a traditional bitter, and has a significant hop flavor and aroma. Dry and bitter.

Bottle: Hazy, reddish amber pour with a medium beige head. Nose of bitters and malt. Flavor is earthy with malts and roastiness, nice bitters presence. A little caramel and toffee. Nice representation of the style.

(Bottle) Pale amber colour, cloudy, with frothy off-white head. Fruity nose with notes of apricots, orange and citrussy hops. Slightly perfumy. Fruity taste with orange peel, apricots and citrussy hops in a rather short finish. Slight wheatish hints towards the finish. A decent summer ale, but hardly exciting.

Bottle from Waitrose, Thame, Oxon 13-12-07 Poured dark brown with lively almost beige coloured head. Some sweet malt and dark fruit on the nose, but the taste is dominated by a burnt toffee and fruity combination, not bad but a bit ’in yer face’. Still I quite enjoyed it.

Pours bright amber into an English pint. Head quickly subsides with no lacing to skim surface. Caramel aromas. Sweet cookie dough from front to back with a lasting bitter hop finish.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s Kidlington 13-11-07 Poured golden in colour with white head. Some fruit, hops and a bit of malt on the nose but I didn’t get much elderflower. Tasted fine, bit florally but again not really noticing the elderflower, some bitterness and a bit of crisp lemon there.
