6th August 2010. GBBF.
Slightly hazy gold beer with no head. A little paint on the nose. Very light palate. Zero carbonation. Tastes of paint and watery malt. A fossil trace of hops. Infected?

[500ml bottle from Iceni brewery shop, Jim shared with me - cheers!] Black, small beige head. Hefty roasted malt flavour dominates, but there is a little chocolate and blackcurrant hidden behind. Like all Iceni beers, it finishes dry. Thin and disappointing.

[Bottle from Iceni Brewery Shop] Dark brown, no head, annoying prickly carbonation. A bit of coffee and roast malts, a bit of sweetness (although with no evidence of a honey flavour) with bitterness following through. Dull, very thin and rather unpleasant.

[500ml bottle from Iceni Brewery Shop] Pinkish-orange, no head and a slight fine fizz. Smells quite sweet, but on tasting is actually dry (evidence of the cranberries?). Summer fruits cluster in the background. There’s a hint of sour bitterness that doesn’t quite work with the sweet, dry finish, and makes me wonder if the cranberries are there to hide a below-average wheat beer. However, it’s still a decent beer and I like the idea of dry cranberries to and a crisp dryness to an already refreshing style.
