From a 22 oz bottle it is a clear Amber color with a slight head. The aroma is a licorice malt. The taste is a strong bitter flavor of nuts.

Bottle: Poured a murky straw yellow to light orange with white head. Aroma is funky barnyard, hay and straw with some spice. Taste has mild fruit, more funkiness, spice, and dry.

Tasting at Eugene’s; 5.7% ABV
Dark amber color, medium sized head. Smokey and meaty aroma, fresh. Nice flavor, but quite shallow; mellow and moderately smoked; low bitterness.

22oz bomber, courtesy of SHIG, thanks Shawn, pours with a clear mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up smooth soft meaty smokiness flowing into caramel malts, thin roasted malts and a sense of dark fruity esters. The taste delivers a blend of sweet malts, caramel like malts and then smooth soft alderwood like smokiness. It gets a little mineral like toward the finish amid the malts and smookiness. Solid brew that creates a pleasing balance.

[1/30/16] Bottle sample at the Encomium bottle share, after RateBeer Best awards ceremony at Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel in Santa Rosa. Thanks everyone who shared bottles! Cloudy golden. Yeast, spicy phenols, overripe fruits, flowers. Dry, slightly bitterish. Decent saison.

22 oz. bottle, pours a hazy chestnut brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out notes of peaty smoke and toasted nuts. Flavour is similar, with lots of peaty smoke. Not much else discernible. Well-done smoked beer, but not a whole lot else going on. Solid.
