Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#8. POOLE. An industrial estate beer, not the most pretty of vacation locations but I enjoy finding a new brewery. Deeper clear golden with a small head. Traditional, with sugars and a light citrus kick.

Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#7. WOOL. Drank this one in the Ship Inn in Wool, just across the river Frome from Woolbridge Manor - scene of the honeymoon in Thomas Hardy's book 'Tess of the D'Urbervilles'. Light golden with a mild haze, carbonated with a dryish-hoppy tropical fruit aroma and taste.

Chain pub but very modern-traditional in appearance, sandwiched between the main road and railway line a few minutes walk west of the station. It's well inland despite the name, nevertheless if you're after Badger brews then come here. A seasonal was on a hand pull, their regulars on cask and keg also available. Food served and has a garden and parking.

Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#6. WOOL. Found at the Black Bear in the village area of the small Dorset town of Wool, which is not really a beer destination but has a lovely setting and several cask ales to choose from. Stronger tasting than its roasted malt but decent enough. Almost black in colour.

Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#5. WOOL. 'Spar' found beer in the small Dorset village-style town of Wool, with its pretty thatched houses. Easier than most traditional IPA beers, but still not really sessionable. Decent though with mild tropical fruit notes in both aroma and taste, but remaining very British in terms of style.

"Rosebud" is famously the mysterious word uttered by the title character in 'Citizen Kane', which has quite a beautiful meaning once revealed. There's good meaning in this brew too with plenty of sticky-sweet tropical fruit and more prominent pine notes, in both aroma and taste for the end user to enjoy.

We're on a looper - hurtling around the sun at quite a pace, but today the earth's tilt is giving us the most sunlight in a day until the next full loop for those of us in the northern hemisphere! Very hazy golden and very sweet in its tropical fruit, perhaps a hint of pine too, but a little overbearing coupled with its strength as its texture is a little more difficult.

Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#4. WOOL. Wool has a lovely countrified church at the back of the village-style town, not too far to walk but worth the detour if you spend time here. This beer bought close by in the local 'Spar' is a traditional English IPA and quite refreshing for it. It has a low but appealing fruitiness and a steady strength, with a good mouthfeel. Golden with a creamy head and creamy-ish texture
