Exactly what this size stout should be. Notes of chocolate, molasses, soy sauce, coffee, roast, burnt sugar, and sorghum, accented by the massive Utopias port-style vinous heaviness and not a trace of the ABV. The perfect marriage of two ridiculous beers. Delicious.

Standard German hefe, hits all the right notes, offering up crisp banana-clove brightness with a floral undertone and vanilla on the back end and a slight yeastiness on the finish. Tasty.

Love 3F, but damned if they can’t turn any style into an IPA. No one would name Rear Admiral an ESB if tasted blind, which leaves it stuck in no man’s land: it’s either a middlin’ IPA or a weird, overhopped bitter, neither of which are terribly appealing. Not undrinkable, but I’d rather have a straight ESB than an off-target hybrid.

Perfectly acceptable pils, light and easy-drinking, offsetting a gentle pilsner malt sweetness and a light floral hop bitter finish with a touch of spicy noble hop character. Doesn’t reinvent the wheel (but apparently the can is a big deal).
