Cask at Petersgate Tap, Stockport. Pours almost black with minimal beige head and good lacing. There’s a powerful aroma of ginger plus roasted malts and a hint of liquorice. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with roasted malts and ginger prominent again. Hints of biscuits, chocolate and blackcurrant come later leading to a little bitterness in the finish. This is rather nice !

Cask at Petersgate Tap, Stockport (as Krakow Blonde). Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small foamy almost white head and good lacing. There’s malts and biscuits in the aroma plus some hints of citrus. In the mouth it is sweet and juicy but slightly watery and with a little underlying bitterness. Flavour has floral hops, malts and citrus with traces of mango and lemongrass coming later leading to a quite sweet finish. This is interesting – quite enjoyable.

Cask at Angel, Stockport. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with minimal cream head. There’s roast malts and biscuits in the aroma plus some hints of vanilla. In the mouth it is slightly sweet and smooth with a creamy texture. There’s dark fruits in the flavour alongside malts and lactose with cola coming through fairly strongly later on. A little bitterness in the finish. This is reasonable.

Cask at Bakers Vaults, Stockport. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a medium sized foamy tan head and good lacing. The aroma has roasted malts with a hint of lactose. In the mouth it is decidedly sweet with a creamy texture and flavour of roasted malts plus hints of vanilla and chocolate leady to a somewhat milky finish. This is decent – not bad at all for only 3% !

On tap at Ebenezers, Crewe. This pours a pale chocolate frothy mess – where it’s impossible to tell what is head, and what is body. There’s strawberries and chocolate in the aroma. In the mouth it is slightly sharp, but this just accentuates the flavour (strawberries and chocolate again). Underlying cheesecake consistency as well. A little bitterness in the finish. Looks horrible but tastes quite nice – not a really a beer though !

Cask at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a small almost white head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly citrus with plenty of lemon and grapefruit. In the mouth it is sweet and juicy with a slightly creamy texture. Flavour starts off with floral hops, grapefruit and citrus with traces of pine and apricot coming later. A little bitterness in the slightly dry finish. This is decent – the citrus isn’t overdone.
