Bottle at home. A very traditional bitter with some sweet malts and bitter hops. Light on taste and mouthfeel but very acceptable. This would be much better on cask.

Can at home courtesy of my brother. It's been a long day and 9 miles walking takes it out of a man, so this was a necessary beer. Opaque but vibrant colour with a lasting small head. The taste and texture is all about the fresh hops and its just really pleasant.

This pub takes its beer very seriously. 8 hand pumps and a similar number of craft in the wall behind the bar. You could easily do 2 straight days in there and not drink the same thing. Food is excellent, pricey, but you get what you pay for, so overall happy. Great posters on the walls from Knebworth concerts in the past.

Pint of gravity at the Lytton Arms beer festival. Fantastic colour in the glass, a deep mahogany, and a really rich flavour. More of a bitter than a pale ale, but what do I know. This is pretty good, but still a bit warm.

Pint of gravity at the Lytton Arms beer festival. Really pale in the glass, in fact my wife compared it to urine. It was served too warm and the flavour was not great. More than a hint of vomit and really not good at all.

Can at home in my garden pub, The Fat Lads' Arms, from my brother as a birthday present. Yellow in the glass, as you would expect from the brewery. Spiky hops, good mouthfeel and a perfect accompaniment to James on the speaker. Great start to an extended Bank Holiday weekend.

Bottle in my pub at home, The Fat Lads' Arms. Good pour and a mahogany colour in the glass that got me looking at the ingredients, but all in order. Rich and bitter hops and a touch of farmyard that blitzed across the palate. Great old school bitter.
