Like other Beer 52 pales of the shelf in Waitrose, this comes across as a bit faded. Still, there’s something to enjoy. Some lemon rind, pale bread, a little grain, biscuits, melon, white grape. Decent balance overall. Drinks fine but I suspect it could be more vibrant.

Perfect pour - couldn’t look any better. Rich dark malts, ashy roast, orange peel, citrus oils, burnt pine, baking cocoa. Velvety texture, ideal condition. Balanced finish, more drying ashy roast, cocoa, earth, citrus rind. Super. Kernel in the supermarket, what a weird and wonderful thing.

Oh yeah that’s good stuff. Big and rich, sweet but not quite cloying. Rich maple, roast, toasted marshmallow, boozy bourbon, layered chocolate, raisins. Thick, lightly chewy. Warming finish, more bourbon, burnt toffee, dark fruits, gooey chocolate. Hearty and still rather drinkable.

Solid offering. Pleasant citrusy hop character, soft pine needles, supportive pale malts. Mellow bitterness. Very nicely balanced and highly drinkable.

Very basic stuff. Hops might be a little faded - been sitting on a supermarket shelf after all. Some citrus peel, lean pale malt, a little tangerine and melon. Low bitterness. Touches of peach. Inoffensive.

Part of the Lidl fest pack. True to style. Not very complex but good and quaffable. Some sun-kissed biscuits, whispers of caramel, a few leaves, dough, bread. Drinks fine.

Fine overall. Pretty dry, not overly sweet. Quite a bit of ashy tobacco, earth, burnt toast. Smooth with velvety texture. Drying finish. Easy-drinking mild.

Well balanced overall. Pleasant lightly toasted malt, a faint leafy note, dried citrus peel. Perhaps a nip of yeast. Good condition. Highly drinkable.

Not bad. A little oily pine, faintly ripened citrus fruits, pale bread, nip of melon, oily rind, some dirty-grassy bitterness. Condition is OK but could be better. Nicely nuanced character. Very good.
