T: sweet date & raisin, sweetened chocolate maltiness, umami soy sauce.

Bottle from Stacks. Clear dark amber, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of fig jam, rum-soaked raisin, overripe pear & banana, sherry, sweet whisky, burnt brown sugar, aniseed. Taste has sweet raisin, fig & pear against a malty backbone of toffee, jam & brioche; quite phenolic in the background. Herbal hoppy finish consisting of dried fruit and somewhat dusty-woody notes as well as boozy sweet whisky alcohol. Medium body, thin oily texture, soft-flat carbonation. Just a tad thinner and messier than the Disarray brother.

More herbal than smoked but very elegant nonetheless.

Bottle from Geers. Clear amber, small, foamy, off-white head. Aroma of bacon, BBQ herbs, tobacco, caramel, brioche, dried banana, wood. Taste has sweetish banana & red apple going over a caramelly malty base, with notes of smoky bacon, meat & clove present throughout. Earthy hops in the finish, lingering bitter wood & smoky tobacco. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Another great addition to the Schlenkerla range; this one is more accessible as a Rauchbier.
