Creamy, toffee aromas balance the bitterness of Munich malts in our roasted brown lager. Although dark in color, Dunkel is medium in body and finishes dry and clean, resulting in a rich lager that can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Horsey soil, toasted grain nose. Brown, medium tan head. Grainy, sweet coffee, pecan. Light body, easy carbonation. I'm thankful that an American brewery is brewing such an unpopular style and I realize why it is so unpopular. Still, it's nice to have this available for when the mood strikes.

Pours a dark brownish-red, almost black. Thin white head. Slight aroma of spice. Smooth taste, low carbonation. Taste includes chocolate, malt and earthy undertones. Palate is very highly developed, includes dark oak, chocolate and dark fruits. Excellent beer.

Enjoyed on Easter 2017 weekend at the brewery. Pours a clean copper colour with a frothy beige head, good retention with some creamy lace. Nutty and coffee notes in the aromas with hints of roasted malts. Mild roasted malts, nuts and coffee again, but blended in a soft way that is kind of watery. Smooth mouthfeel texture. Not quite the fruity Dunkel I know, but a decent darker lager.

Draught at Salty Pig, 3/4/17.
Clear, milk chocolate with lighter amber tints and a small, beige head of low to moderate retention.
Grainy, caramel-laden malts also imbue light chocolate and slight red fruits in the nose as a bare, grassy, noble hop character adds a touch of levity. Mineral, yeast and bread sit on the end rather plainly, but do impart a freshness.
Soft, well-attenuated and leaning on the caramel malt for a light sticky sweetness as it mixes with the base malt. Lightly grainy and bready at times with low but moderately-engaging carbonation. Pretty standard, well-executed, traditional dunkel, on the lighter side. Won’t find any (American) hops here....
