(thanks for sharing!) Sampled draft @ The Beavertown Extravaganza 2017. Day 1. Black dark brown, solid head. Nose is fascinating mix of umami, soy sauce & massive vinous character, tobacco. Taste is unique alcoholic, vinous, boozy syrup but also molasses, coffee, low soy sauce. Body is thick syrup, boozy. Unique, fascinating, very neat.

Tap. Black color with white head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, chocolate, liquorice, just a touch of wildness (of which I'd expect more from such a barrel, but then again, Dieu du Ciel knows how to use barrels in a restrained way). Taste is chocolate, coffee, a bit vanilla. Medium carbonation, viscous oily mouthfeel. Very nice!

2017-05-11. 341ml bottle (thx, Alex G.!). Bottled on 2015-09-11. Pours an almost black with a dark beige head. Aroma is lots of barrel notes, fruitiness, and berries. Very nice. Taste is similar with chocolate, caramel, lots of grapes notes. Same aftertaste. Amazing stuff! 8-5-9-4-17=43

2017-08-04. 341ml bottle. Bottled on 2016-09-06. Aroma is very fruity, with barrel and winey notes. Taste is similar - winey, fruity, but with very noticeable woody and roasted malt notes. A little bit harsh. It seems it needs some more time in the bottle to get better. 8-5-8-4-15=40

Draught at Steel Toad, Vancouver
Black color. Nice aroma of barrel, and red wine. Smooth mouthfeel, loaded roasted malt body, spices, funkiness, and the red wine integrates and complements, earthy in a positive way.
Very good, intense.

Draft at Pro Pig, Half pour size, small dying off white head on a deep brown color. Aroma of pit fruits, black cherry, raisins, dates. Good wood element.

The wood is a lasting character throughout the brew. Light amount of roasted backbone, good red grape notes, again, dark fruits. Also a vinous depth. Mouthfeel is fuller, dry oak finish. Alcohol is barely noticeable. Good amount of complex flavors. Real good!

Pitch black with a tan head. The aroma has lots of heat with marmalade, mesquite and chocolate. The taste has heat, oaky wood, red wine, chalky dark chocolate and berries. Very nice stuff though I’d say the body has thinned out and the 2013 vintage has probably already peaked.
