Marks & Sparks Own Brand Cans Evening At Home Beer#2 of 3. One down, two to go! Practically black beer without the fullest of stout bodies or tastes, but the expected smoothness it has does give it a good mouthfeel. Its aroma is fair.

Very nice overall. Bit of tar, ashy roast, old rubber, raisin, cocoa. Delicate, velvety nitro. Smooth. Mellow sweetness. Very drinkable. Some burnt toast too.

Can from the bigger M&S in Waterloo. Dark cola brown. Thick frothy foamy beige head. Aroma has espresso and malts. Flavourwise it has a real espresso bitterness. Creamy edge is overly cautious. Develops a dstk berry sourness. Light-medium bodied. Slick with residue. A lot of residue in fact. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Enjoyable enough despite the residue.

Can from M&S. dark brown body with a thick beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of cocoa powder, coffee grounds and woody malt. Flavour of blueberry, coffee and earth. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Smooth and nicely flavoured. Better than Guinness.

Can at home picked up from Watford M&S. A dark black mahogany brown coloured pour with a lasting uniform khaki head. Aroma is earthy roasty barley, light ash, char. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, earthy ashy roast, char, dry roast, bitter liquorice, black char. Palate is rounded, creamy, little thin, mellow carbonation tickle. Ok.
