From Oct 2007

This pours from 12oz bottle(part of variety 12 pack) a clear amber with a small but firm head of foam that shrinks to some islands by the end of the session.

The smell is of sweet malt and some fruit.

The taste has caramel malt, some roasted malt flavour, some fruitiness(cherry, citrus) and a slight alcohol flavour. Hmm..there's not much harmony going on with the flavours here and I'm finding it kind of difficult to take more sips. Nope. This one is not for me.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 3 4/2015. Pours crystal clear deep golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of cracker, toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of bready malt and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of cracker, toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of cracker, toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of bready malt and earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors with minimal yeast ester notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good Maibock style. All around good balance and robustness of bready malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. A- Malty, biscuits, slightly sweet. A- Golden orange color, clear liquid, no head. T- Malty, caramel, biscuits, bready, cereal. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- I’m not sure what Dundee does but I’m pretty sure they bottle one beer under several different labels. The IPA, Kolsch, and this all look the exact same and don’t differ much in taste either. Just a very boring and not so good beer.

Reviewed from notes.
This was always poured into a pilsener whenever I had it.
The appearance was a golden amber color that showed a decent transparency about it and allowing some carbonation to be seen rising. The head was about a finger’s thick and was white. Once that died, there was some light foamy lacing.
The smell was a malty sweet caramel breadiness.
The taste was sweet allowing the caramel breadiness to give off a slight toasty sort of effect.
On the palate, it sat at/about a light to medium on the body allowing a decent sessionability running about it. The carbonation seemed fairly smooth.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good beer, but my lack of reviews for Maibocks says this was good for me.

Part of their 2013 spring/summer Variety 12-pack purchased in Syracuse, NY. Pours a clean golden colour with a frothy, slightly creamy white head, average retention and lots of dirty lace. Sweet malty nose with some alcohol. Very sweet tasting malt grain that leaves a cereal aftertaste. Reminds me of the sweetness of some malt liquors. Thankfully, some hop comes balancing things with some grassy notes in the end. Still, not my thing.

This bock poured a clear light yellow colour with next to no head. Scents include vinegar, wine, hay and citrus. First taste was rough with flavours of toast, light hop and white wine. Finish is winey with a light toast taste.
