Eggers Special

As a brewery that can boast a little bit of exclusivity with our hop merchant, we’re honoured that our standing in the modern day craft beer climate of the UK means we can get our hands on the freshest, most exciting varieties setting brewers’ collective hype radars into a frenzy.

As one of the most sought after hops in the world at the present time, we’ve been itching to get our hands on Eggers Special and as soon as we opened the bag on delivery we could tell why.

A late-harvested Riwaka, moulded and defined by the natural stresses of the Moutere Valley it grows in, this is possibly one of the most stunning hops we’ve ever had the privilege to brew with. Huge notes of bright pineapple with candied lime peel, sweet passionfruit cake and an underlying dankness make Empty Frames possibly the best IPA we’ve ever brewed here at Polly’s.

Can. Hazy yellowish gold beer, small and short lived bubbly pale cream colour head. Light palate, semi dry, a good fine minerally crispness. Thin bodied pale malts, a decent sweetness imparted. Crisp cooling pine. A little Nelson like winey grape and mild skunk. Light bright citrus, a little lemon tinted here. Light crisp finish. Eggers has more faces than a politician. But, that's a good thing when it comes to hops.
