Bottle. Barrel and Anvil (formerly Beer Central), Sheffield. Mostly clear deep cola colour. Nice swede is dense and soppy beige. Nose has old wood. Quite vinous in a tart grape kind of manner. Bit of red wine. Wisp of dark raspberry truffle. Hint of gravy. Taste is bittersweet throughout. Nicely juicy and lightly puckering. Drinks easy for a style thatโs not my idea of a chugging beer. Juicy semi tart vinous finish. Good. 330ml was ample, mind you.

Almost clear deep amber brown beer, small paleish tan head. Airy palate, semi dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Thin malts bring mild and unsweet caramel toffee. Oud Bruin ripe fruity tang soon takes over, vaguely HP sauce. A light but clear cherry vibe. More fruity tang with a touch of over aged red wine. Light and semi dry finish. Good fun, wouldn't want a pint.

Bottle from the interweb. It pours clear deep ruby with a dissipating khaki head. The aroma is tangy, vinous, crunchy cherry, cherry cola, sherbet, cherry tangfastics, slightly lactic, nip of red wine vinegar, dried fruits, toasted fruit cake and dry wood. The taste is dry, tart, tangy, lactic, zingy, puckering sourness, acetobacter, sherbet, tangfastics, crunchy cherry, wood, light tannin, cherry cola, splash of Dr P, vinous, must, funk nd damp basement with a drying finale. Medium body and average carbonation. Flavourful and classy. Nice example of the style.

On tap at The Rusty Bucket, Eltham. Nose is jammy red fruits, balsamic vinegar, redcurrants, quite woody. Taste is much the same. Good tart/sweet balance.

Draught keg at 7000 Jars, Kingston upon Thames. Fairly dark brown, maybe a reddish hue, some considerable translucency. A small amount of beige/khaki head. Baldamic vinegar in the aroma, some soy sauce. Tart vinous taste with herbal notes on the finish. Light body for the ABV, no carbonation. A good representation of the style.

Draught Very good, dense, reddish tinted cream head over red-shot brown beer. Liquorice, plywood, ever so faintly vinous, hints at lactic acid. Sourish, again some liquorice, wood. Sour fruit - plums or raisins on citrusjuice. At least medium bodied, despite acidthinning and light -burn.

A fairly relaxed take on the style - and highly drinkable. Soft acetic twang, mellow tart dark cherry, raspberry, little seedy bitterness, nips of balsamic, balanced acidity. Mild woody dryness in the finish, a little salty bite, lightly buggy. Outstanding stuff, really well balanced.

Keg at Mother Arch iii, 05/06/2026.
Deep mahogany brown topped with a beige swirl.
Nose is tart fruit esters, figs, raisins, hint of balsamic vinegar.
Taste comprises ripe fruit esters, modest funk, acidic tickle, on the turn figs, fruit balsams.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a light puckering edge.
Solid exponent of the style.

Tap at the brewery taproom bermondsey. A hazed reddish nut brown coloured pour with a lasting fine khaki cap. Aroma is sharp, tangy dark berries, sour cherry, pickles of vinegar, some earthy sweetness to balance.. Nose also has, woodland fruit and raisin notes. Complex. Flavour is composed of prickly sour fruit, prunes, cherry, prickly sour, woodland fruit. Some wooden barrel staves. Palate is prickly sour, sharp, pinch of salt, moderate carbonation. Complex and well balanced for the style. But the flirting with acetic really is not for me in the style.
