A black beer, a head is small and light brown. Aroma has roastiness of coffee, dried and dark fruits, raisins, some liquirice, barrel, alcohol and vanilla. Taste has riped fruits, barrel, distilled alcohols, roastiness. Nicely warming. Almost full bodied, low carbonation. The notes of barrel have quite strong but not too dominating. Imperial Stout meets the riped fruits inside the barrel.

Poured from bottle thanks AdamChandler for the Ratebeer Camp extravaganza. Pours dark chocolate with a thick tan head. Aromas of caramel bread and roast. Taste is full with a hint of smoke.

Thankfully not infected like the pervious two brews. Moderate roast, cognac hints, charred grain, old berries (like boysenberry), cocoa notes. The mouthfeel is fuller and dense ( very imperial stout like) overall this is pretty good.

Pitch black, 1 finger head. Dark chocolate and fudge aroma with bourbon and smoke. Good mouthfeel. dense, the taste is yes pretty smokey, fudge, chocolate, a little bit of tree bark. I like this.

Bottle split at Jack The Sipper leaves for the FBI again tasting, thanks to Daniel, 14/07/15. Light black with a decent tan covering. Nose is rich on dark fruits, spice, earthy, wood, malt, light vinegar pang. Taste comprises soy sauce, dark fruit peel, cocoa powder, treacle toffee, spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with boozey licks. So so for style, lacks cohesion and direction.

Bottle from Kent BF 2015. Merci Menno, mon frere. Black beer lasting tan head. Coffee chocolate and a little barrel character. Actually quite a lot of barrel character. But not over dominating. Red wine barrel is it? Touch of peaty whisky, vanilla? Certainly a blend of barrels. Complex aroma, complex flavour. Bits of everything in here. Some tar and liquorice on aroma. Some chocolate sponge later on in the beer. It’s a melange of flavours. The question is, does all the blending work? Well for someone who is cautious around barrel aged imperial stouts, this is really quite drinkable and certainly very interesting. Chocolate wine whisky bourbon (guessing at the last 3). Did I like it and did I enjoy it? Quite a dry impy stout. A little soy sauce. It’s decent and interesting. I mean not one of De Molen’s top notch impy stouts but there is enough there to make it likeable and enjoyable.

Bottle shared in London during Jack’s leaving drinks. This beer came courtesy of Daniel. Pours clear, deep brown with a creamy tan head. The nose is lightly medicinal, with strong notes of cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with tangy dark malts, wood, berries, chocolate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with prominent tangy dark fruit character. Novel.
