Blackberry Daze IPA gets its hop bitterness and some hop aroma in the brewhouse, but most of the action happens in the cellar when the fruit is added during secondary fermentation. A special blend of loamy, herbaceous hops for dry-hopping complements the brightness and deep complexity of the blackberries. The result is a funky synthesis of rich earth and ripe fruit, hop bitterness and blackberry tartness, with alluring color and aromas up front, sublimely intense flavors, and a refreshingly dry finish.

Some bitterness. A little blackberry note but not a lot going on here. I’m left with nothing - makes me feel like a nihilist. Tap at Savor.

Bottle. Pours pinkish amber, medium off-white head, dissipates fairly quickly, decent lacing. Aroma is caramel, berry, pine. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, less berry than nose would indicate, but still present. Light body. Not terrible.

Bottle. Bier Huis, Osset. Hazy, orange amber. Messy, filmy, off white head. Nose has sweet and juicy malts. Definitely get the blackberry. Some spicy, marmalade like hop. Decent juice here, in an old school kind of way. Taste has some sweetness, and an earthy, berry fruit bitterness. Mouthfeel has some chew, with soft carbonation. Moderate bitterness on the finish, with a light dry close.

Bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a combination of earthy grass and semi sweet blackberries with a touch of grains underlying. Flavor has earthy grass through out with bead, grains and dry blackberry backing.

Draught @ Albion. Faintly cloudy reddish amber with foamy light beige head, faint fruity malt aroma, medium carbonation, medium bitter lightly citrusy taste with blackberry flavor at the background, thin body, medium finish. Interesting brew.

12 ounce bottle. Deep Amber gold color. Large frothy white head. Fragrant malt nose reeks of berries. Malty flavor yields to more berries and bitter hops. The fruit is present, but the hops dominate. Better than I expected. Some warming alcohol notes in the dry bitter finish.

Pours a rosy amber from a bottle, thin white head with some lacing. Aroma is a fruity pine, rather noncommittal. Flavor is like juicy-juice beer. Weird, should be better. Okay beer.

Bottle. A- Blackberries, floral, caramel. A- Orange red color, clear liquid, white head. T- Bitter, mixed berries, pine, floral, grape soda. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- A lot more berry on the nose and palate than I thought there might be. Really a nice balance. The flavor hits you with berries at first but transitions into that expected piney bitterness on the finish.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours light copper with a near-beige head. Aroma of blackberries and fruit in a slightly musty way. Med + body. Flavor is blackberry and slightly roasty malt. Sort of a herb/veg thing too, and maybe some pale stone fruit. It is towards dry, and it’s decently bitter. No one flavor is overly strong, but the sum is at least equal to the total of the flavors. Interestingly different take on a fruit beer - not sweet; not sour; not extremely fruity.
