To Kotch: London slang; To chill out, relax, enjoy doing nothing in particular. This is the perfect beer for that. A hoppy blonde ale brewed with Cascade hops to give it a citrus and peach aroma.

Bottle from StarmoreBoss, Sheffield. Hazy, straw colour. Film of white head. Lemon and lime zest, with malt sweetness. Taste is off dry, with a bitterness in tow. Soft to flat carbonation. Decent amount of body. Finishes crisp bitter. Refreshing session beer, that I could chug down quite happily. Marked down a little though, because it was way overpriced!

Cask@Crystals bar, Selhurst Park, London - pours a golden colour with medium white head. Grassy, light citrus hoppy (orange/lemon) and floral, biscuity malts, nice sweet and bitter balance, and easy drinking. Nice.

500ml bottle. Clear golden colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Aroma has hints of straw, hay, husk, very subtle fruity hints of peach. Taste is not that far from water - straw, a chalky touch, minimally sweet, subtle fruity hints of peach. Nothing wrong in taste, but very simple, light, anaemic, no flesh on an already weak backbone.

Old Fountain. Clear gold beer, tidy white head. Palate is smooth with a little carbonation. Neutral pale malt. Okay citrus, mellow orange, trace of lemon. Semi dry finish. Okay but I like my Golden Ales a bit more vibrant.

Cask at The Skylark, Croydon. It pours golden yellow, with a medium white head. The nose is grass, leaf, citrus fruit, fresh cucumber and light celery. The taste is straw, pithy lemon, lime, light grass, some bitterness and faint spice, with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A decent crisp, citrussy golden ale.
