Tyler Brown has travelled to Marston’s Brewery, in Staffordshire, to brew this golden-coloured beer especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. Refreshing and full flavoured, without being too heavy, this beer has a floral, citrus aroma, with its light, biscuity flavour balanced by a crisp bitterness.

Hops used: East Kent Goldings
Beer style: strong ale

Crosse Keys Spoons. Cask. Bright clear gold beer, small white head. Smooth semi dry palate, mild fine carbonation. Sweetish pale malts. Light floralness. Bubblegum ester. Annoying soap. Light dry finish. Very disappointing.

Cask at the Moon Under Water, JDW - London. Pours bright gold with a creamy white head. The nose has some grainy, bready malts, ripe orange. Medium sweet flavor with oddly sugary bread, some ripe apes, ripe orange, minimal bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with lots of sweet bread, ripe fruits, some dough, citrus, hints of caramel. Interesting.

Cask at the King and Castle, Tourist Town, 17/03/15. Clear golden with a decent off white covering. Nose is bready, straw, caramel, light citric peel. Taste comprises a touch of vanilla, caramel, grassy, fruit rinds. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Adequate GB but nothing I’ll be rushing back for.

Cask at the Back of Beyond, Reading. Golden-amber with a thin white head. Lots of lemon with some floral hints. Quite sharp and sour from the lemon. OK I guess.

Cask at Moon Under Water. It pours clear golden with a decent, fluffy white head. The nose is sweet, biscuit, white bread, white sugar and apple. The taste is sweet, biscuit, grainy, honeyed cereal, apple, melon, light acidity and straw with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Too sweet for the style. Not awful, just forgettable.

Cask handpull Crosse Keys London. Clear gold lasting white bubbles. Some Marstons yeast on aroma. Some green apple. Yeasty aroma. Then a touch of apple and peach. Sweetish finish. No bitterness. Odd. Appley.

Cask at the Moon under water Watford Jdw. Pale golden coloured pour with a fleeting off white head. Aroma is tart Apple skin, subdued musty grainstore, spicy hop. Flavour is a bit cidery, apple, nutty malts, bit of staling, tangy fruit, semi sweet raisin. Palate is semi sweet with low carbonation. Meh.
