A gift from a friend who was given one of the 2,011 750ml bottles brewed for the 140th anniversary in that year. Opened & enjoyed in 2013, a very well made strong brown ale, with chocolate, bread, citrus, dark malts & toasted caramel. Medium bodied & slightly sweet.

Bottle shared during Cotteridge Convention 2015. What a rare treat! Pours lightly hazy brown with a foamy, off-white head. The nose holds toasty bread, faint pine and tangy citrus. Medium sweet flavor with notes of chocolate, semi-dark malts, toasted caramel. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Good balance to finish, with a bit of ripe citrus and dark bread. Tasty.

Corked - yes ! Bottle split at Cotts, thanks to Scopester, 24/01/15. Murky chestnut brown with a moderate light beige covering. Nose is white pepper, charr, biscuit, earthy hop notes. Taste comprises pine, sweet nites, earthy hops, red berry tang, caramel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok CDA, just ok.

Bottle from Corkscrew Jersey, shared at the Cotteridge Convention. It pours hazy deep brown with a medium off-white head. The nose is sweet, juicy, pine, cocoa, candied orange peel and cake. The taste is bitter-sweet, earth, roast, brown sugar, toast, earth, sugary milky coffee and light spice. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent enough, but not worth the expense! Saying that this is probably Jersey’s best beer.

24th Jan 2015 at the Cotteridge Wine beer exchange: my share poured a murky dark brown with a thin, almost scummy beige topping. The nose had a pine and tropical fruit aroma with something else lurking in the background, might have been cocoa as that turned up within the taste along with all the flavours you’d expect from the aroma. Decent, but surrounded by so many fine beers it was soon forgotten.

Bottle share. Cotteridge Beano. Murky brown. Film of head. Roast coffee malts. Woody. Fruity. Got some cherry. Tastes a bit musky. Ok.

Bottle at Cotteridge Tasting, Saturday 24th January 2015 Murky puddle brown with light beige head. A little grainy cocoa is picked up initially, that and some sweet citrus, clementine or tangerine perhaps? A pretty decent black IPA. Touch of sediment in my sample. Crikey the pace is really picking up now. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4
