Can from an Eastern European shop in Ipswich and appropriately enjoyed whilst watching Poland in their QF v Portugal. Poured pale gold with a lasting white head. Aroma of grain, sweet corn, grass and vaguely metallic. Pretty heavy on sweetness, very light bitterness. Light body, thinnish texture, average carbonation. Finish is sweet, and somewhat sticky.

Can. Abbey Stop Shop, Sheffield. 5.6%. Clear, pale gold. Decent white head. Nose is sugary cereal. Squeezy honey. Faint hop. Taste is sweet, with minimal bitterness. Syrupy mouthfeel. Finishes much the same. Pretty bad, even at a quid a pop.

Bottleshare at Lancaster Gate. Thanks to Leighton. Can. Clear gold beer, thin pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry, decent carbonation. Light pale malts, dry and sugary sweet. Little honey. Light dry floralness. Trace of citrus. Dry finish. Too sweet.

Bottle shared at Leighton’s place 09/05/2016. Thank to Leighton for this one. Pale golden yellow coloured pour with a small white head. Aroma is semi sweet, nutty malts, lager, airy malts. Flavour is composed of light grains, apple, tangy semi sweet. Palate is semi sweet, moderate carbonation, airy dry finish. Not bad.

Can shared in London - picked up in Kris Wines. Pours clear yellow with a creamy, white head. The nose has some dry cereal, hay, white bread. Medium sweet flavor, with white grape, melon, simple biscuits, hay. Light bodied with average carbonation. Sugary finish, more white bread, some meringue, faint bitter hay. Fine.

500ml can from Kubus, Bedford. 5.6% ABV. Disappointingly pee-yellow. Softly carbonated. Grassy, malty aroma, uninspiring. Taste is actually pretty good. Sweet but not sickly and although there’s an artificial taste to it, it doesn’t quite overpower. Decent palate. Alcohol isn’t too strong; this is a fairly strong lager but not quite at tramp juice level. Wouldn’t choose to have it again but it’s better than most.

500ml can: BBD Jan 2015, bought in a dodgy off-licence in Walthamstow and drank on 13th Sep 2014. Usual lager/pilsner look, clean, golden and clear with a white head. Grainy and slightly sweet feel to the taste, no aroma or body depth. Basic Euro Pop.

can from Baltic Branch Dover. Golden colour, white head. Malty, slightly hoppy with a grassy touch and hints of wet cardboard. No glory, but much better than the strong version.

50cl can picked up in a Polski Shlep in Wokingham. A bright straw colour with a billowing white head; sweet grainy aroma; grainy taste with a touch of citrus; and a clean finish. Very inoffensive, in a nice way.
