Bottle, probably from Beer Revolution (RIP), sampled in June 2017. Pours deep brown with a light tan foam. Aroma: toasted malts, pine needles, sorachi ace hops. Taste: light to moderate sweet & bitter, lime, coconut, grassy, pine. Medium body with soft carbonation.

Draught at Van Moll. Dark brown color, average sized off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, sweetish hops. Close your eyes and you think you're drinking a normal NEIPA. It is the good and the bad united. It doesn't make it a good black IPA, on the contrary, it misses the black imo other than the appearance. Sweetish overall rather than bitter. Mwah. Easily drinkable. Ok. 7-3-7-3-14.

On tap. Pours a very dark brown with light head. Aromas of pine and slick roasted malts. Flavors follow same with additional citrus and pine resin. Clean. Tasty.

L42 Bottleshare. Very hazy amber - brown beer, good pale tan head. Mellow dark malts, thin dark malt cream. An earthy dark malt vibe. Modest hop spice but it ramps up through the finish. Mild pine and bitterish fruits. Decent but not the smoothest.

Bottle. Trembling Madness Bottle Shop. Muddy, dark brown. Film of grey head. Nose has some bonfire toffee. Some grapefruit. Hint of coffee grinds. Taste is fruity, vinous sweet. Some burnt, ashy bitterness. Some citrus. Smooth mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Ashy bitter finish. Not much pop here, and I’ve no idea what is New England about it. Ok at best.

500ml bottle. Murky and dark brown/chocolate colour with barely any head. Aroma: hoppy, tropical fruits, citrus/berries, light roast malts. Taste: light roasty malt base with tropical fruits, citrus, berries, pine, light sweet with a bitter finish, well balanced. Medium body and soft carbonation. Pretty good, think this is the first Black IPA I’ve had that’s been a New England style, seems to work quite well.
