Native Two is the second in a focused series of wild and mixed fermentation beers from Tree House. Brewed with spelt, malted wheat, and oats, Native Two then rested for 4 months in stainless with a blend of Brettanomyces, lactic acid bacteria, and our native microflora. Simple, rustic, and refreshing, Native Two features a gentle tartness and a dry finish, making it the beautiful choice after a day in the sun!

Bottle thanks to Brandon. Pours a hazy gold with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is apple skin, yeast, floral. Thin body, tart, apple, mineral, yeast, light dry finish, very good.

Bottle split at CBC Islo Matteo ciao, thanks to the man of the moment, 20/02/17. Hazed orange golden with a decent off white cap. Nose is citric piss, green berry durge, straw, grains, funk. Taste comprises tangy gooseberries, straw, grains, light barnyard, fruit esters, subtle brett. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced pucker. Decent ... great flavour profile for the ABV!

Matteoβs Ciao @ Craft Islington. Thanks to Matteo. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, dry and fairly crisp. Mildly tart citric fruits. Little spice, tastes like mellow chilli! Minerals. Interesting but wants something else going on.

Bottle, big thanks to Matteo. It pours cloudy golden with a small white head. The aroma is farty, funky, musty, barnyard, creamy, stewed sour orange, kumquat, dirt, hay and orange cheesecake. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter - sour, tangy fruits, lactic, creamy orange, pithy tangerine, lemon rind, sherbet, farmyard, funk, straw and moderate acidity. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Aroma resembles a farmyard a bit too much, but other than that its a very good beer.

Bottle shared at CBC Islington on Matteoβs farewell. Thanks to the man himself. Bottom of Vottle. Hazy gold with a creamy white head. Nice aroma, moderate peach, tangerine, melon, apricot, mild lactic. Light sweet flavour with mellow acidity, more peach, lemon, tangerine, light pale wood, soft bitterness, nips of grass. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Clean finish, zippy and refreshing, with more tart peach and lemon, light woody dryness. Great stuff.

Bottle shared by Blisscent on 9/9/16.
High clarity throughout this light blonde beer with a small, white head atop showing moderately-low retention.
Vastly different than Native One, this grisette-like nose reminds immediately of Oxbow, with its subdued Brett suggestions and touch of lactic acid. Good dose of spelt and wheat-like cereal notes add depth to the tartness, with a mild honey-like maltiness that adds delicateness and elegance. Moderate fruity esters add yellow fruit skin and pit-like notes, with just a touch of peppery phenol and more grain/wheat/spelt on the finish alongside lightly tart brett and lactic notes. Very clean, very understated.
Fantastically spritzy carbonation is tight and engaging, giving the perception of more body in conjunction with the wheat and very light malts. The texture being perfect, the brett and and lactic acids are free to roam about the palate, with light grain notes and touches of earth and plater-like minerality. Very, very soft, mild, understated but elegant and very well-done stuff here. A lot of thought and experimentation must have gone in to arriving at the finished products for the Native Series because they are all exquisite. I really, really love that Tree House took their time to bring these to the market, instead of pumping out subpar or half-assed sour/wild offerings. All three of them are fantastic beers that I would actively love to drink and trade for and I look forward to their continued efforts in this department.
