YellowBelly are renowned over in the Emerald Isle for their innovative and bold brews. In addition to their lovely, warm welcome to our launch in Ireland and a friendship going back years, our shared passion for darker beers prompted us to design and brew a Porter. Having made several variations of porter ourselves, we wanted to do something a little different.
In our Baltic Porter, we used a cold-fermenting lager yeast strain with a clean, subtle flavour profile to allow all those stewed and roast roasted malts (all 10 of them) to shine.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up at some bottle shop around London, just can't recall which. Pours deep brown with a creamy tan head. Not bad, has some leathery and vaguely tangy dark fruits, soft roast, a little earthy bitterness, baking cocoa. Medium to full bodied, lightly oily, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, some sticky burnt sugars, more mellow roast and bitter chocolate. Quite nice.

On tap at Hop Stuff Tap room Ashford. Black beer lasting tan head. Big boozy dark chocolate aroma. Coffee flavour. A lot smoother in the mouth than aroma would suggest. Hides abv well in mouth and swallow. You could get very drunk on this dark chocolate espresso coffee beer. Drinkability of a lager flavours of a tring porter. Lovely

Craft TCR bottleshare. Thanks to Cloin for the can. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Soft airy dark malts, good fluffy dark chocolate. Plenty of earthy coffee and a little fruity coffee. Semi dry finish. Nicely coffee but light and not overpowering.

Tap @Luppolo Station in Rome. Black pour with an enormous rich brownish head. Nose: burnt/smoky aroma, loads of licorice , ashes and dustiness. Mouth: ouh! Marvelous! Complexity of cocoa, sweet feel of a complex stout, sweet...yes but so English. Long mouthfeel, complex, fresh roast...yes that kind of roast you drink easy. Lovely.
