Bottle at omhper’s. Light hazy deep brown liquid with small light tan head. Aroma of raw sugar, dried fruit, raisins, light booze, caramel and fruity yeast esters. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar, caramel, raisins and dried fruit. Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. Quite nice.

Ok. 9/10/8/8/11/8

Oude Maalderij’s first beer, brewed at Maenhout, but since last year production apparently moved to Gulden Spoor. Bottled in 75 cl champagne bottles wrapped in paper on which a lengthy commercial (and probably fake) history is written. Light beige, moussy, not too stable head, colour a misty dark bronze. Subdued fruity character, some pear, some orange, caramelly and nutty malts, liquorice, mild grassy hop bitter finish, quite full mouthfeel. Not bad for a first attempt.

75cl bottle, shared with Blackhaddock, Fin & Loz @ Les Crepes de Sophie, Shrewsbury. Thanks Jeremy! This was a beautiful rare, aged quad. Some dried fruits and slight sour oud bruin notes, mildly sticky & sweet with some spice. A curious taste and glad to have tried it.

Corked and caged 0.75 litre bottle from 08 Oct 2012, Lot 002. Shared with Fin and Mat on 23rd Aug 2014 at Sophie’s Creperie. Dark brown with a red hue, tanned head. Malts lead the way in both the nose and taste with dark fruits showing in both the aroma and taste. A slight yeastiness in the flavouring as the beer warmed a little. It came across a bit sweet and sour in nature with the sweetness just about winning overall. I liked it.

Bottle courtesy of Black Haddock, cheers Jeremy! We had this at The Creperie, Market Hall, Shrewsbury, Saturday 23rd August 2014 in company of Mat, Loz, Jeremy and some of Jeremy’s family, Pours mahogany in colour with a light beige head. Tangy dark sticky fruits a bit of date perhaps. This is both spicy and a little yeasty. A twangy fruity sour edge. Its good. Aroma not too disimilar to Pannepot, in fact its really similar. A jolly decent beer, cheers Jeremy! A8 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.8
